Advertizing Your Web Page Or Ecommerce Business

The advent of the internet has born a new breed of business person and businesses that were not around ten years ago. With it has developed a whole new set of business skills and marketing techniques.


To most people the internet looks to be a very appealing way of doing business for various reasons as most people think that you no longer need vast amounts personal capital or loans to launch a business and see the internet as a cheap and cheerful way to realise dreams, ambitions and entrepreneurialism to make money and run your own business.

In many respects this is true because whether you succeed or fail, the internet can present a more affordable way to explore business ideas and ventures with relatively little risk and cost. Also, you are always going to gain some feedback and insights from having ago than if you were to do nothing, which would more likely be the case prior to the internet because of the inherent costs with traditional bricks and mortar ventures.

Consequently, most people enter in to ecommerce or other online business naively thinking that they are going to make a lot of money with little or no effort and cost.

Unfortunately, this is not the case for 99% of online businesses and in some respects this is no bad thing. It can be a encouraging feeling knowing that having successfully promoted your own business, that others will find it as difficult to knock your business off its pedestal as it did for you to get your business to that position.

If anyone ever tries to tease me about my success and flippantly suggests that they might try and replicate what I have achieved and compete with me, then I just tell them to get on with it. Secretly I know how difficult it will be for them to do that and I feel confident in the knowledge that it is virtually impossible to go from nothing to number one on the internet without either a considerable about of money, in the tens of thousands if not more, having a very niche, unique high demand product and service or being prepared to give blood sweat and tears.

So, in many respects I am thankful that search engines make you work to get your business where you want it and that others will have to work as hard, if not harder to surpass your website.

Having said all this, don’t be put off by the work required, because it is not rocket science. It is simply about making sure that you get the right help to know what you need to do and then ensure that you work tirelessly and consistently to apply the strategies required to market your business on the internet.
